The Tenacious Ballerina

You cling to the quivering lustre of dance
As it screams across the burning stage
Flawless lines of intricate chance
Tearing words from my pen page by page
Abundant rhythm echoes from the ground
Your sylphy fingers disperse shards of air
Thrown around in glimpses of sound
I'm ravaged by your lethal desire
I am love, the victim endangered, feeble
In solitary pain my eyes bleed tears
Toss me ashore as a wave rolls a pebble
My hope of freedom draws us near
Drag my flaying limbs across sands of feel
Sew your amorous threads in our nest
Know more about me and steal
Power from my pounding chest
I linger in the scent of your smile
My fervour prowls in your naked eye
Diving bodies in fluid guile
My octopus rises in tentacles of kiss
Writhes in a frenzy of taut muscle
Skin soaked in latitudes of caress
Clawing over minds in naked tussle
Then on a soothing hush of love and laugh
Let us draw wispy silk strings
Around this romantic earth
And dress your truth in golden plover's wings
